Researchers' apprentices

For many years, the laboratory has been welcoming secondary school students as part of national initiatives to help them discover scientific careers.

Parcours culturels scientifiques

“L’Arbre des Connaissances” was founded by researchers to promote dialogue between science producers and society. Among the actions that this association carries out, “Apprentis Chercheurs” allows the reception in research laboratories throughout the school year, of high school students, supervised in pairs by actors of research (researchers, doctoral students, post-doctoral students, engineers).

Within this framework, one Wednesday afternoon per month, the students carry out a scientific project on a research topic of the laboratory. At the end of the school year, l’Arbre des Connaissances organizes an Apprentice Researchers’ Conference at each research center. The teenagers present their work in public and receive a certificate of initiation to research. Thanks to the involvement of their teachers, the Apprentice Researchers also become true ambassadors for research within their school.

This program has been running at the University of Caen Normandy since 2013.
